Recently, I hosted an event called Eat Well, Move Well, Be Well in 2024 at Streams Church in Goodyear, Arizona. If you weren’t there, I want to tell you all about it! [You can also watch it HERE on YouTube for FREE if you missed it!] I invited clients, family, friends, church members, and community members to hear the good news that God didn’t make a mistake when He made your body.
I spoke very practically about the “how” of eating well and moving well. But, what does this even mean anyway??
For eating well, I listed things like eating consistently, eating variety, not skipping meals, eating whole meals, and pairing foods together to create more nourishment and satiety when we eat.
For moving well, I talked about playing more, doing things that we like, having variety in our exercise, and doing things with people for enjoyment and accountability.
I also spoke about how we have all been duped into thinking that God can’t be trusted to help us solve our health problems, learn new ways of taking care of ourselves and meeting our needs. I mean, He only made our bodies, surely he lost the instruction manual after he put us together, right? Surely the world and diet culture can guide us better? No way.
I then pointed the audience to scripture in Colossians 2:8.
“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”
Colossians 2:8
Diet culture is a whole heap of hollow and deceptive philosophies. We were able to talk about how we have to go back to the truth of God’s word, and His character is ALWAYS a guide for all parts of life, including our health.
Here are some of the things I heard from participants:
I know God takes our small steps of faith and turns them into glorious, miraculous stories of overcoming. He is a generous, faithful God. We give him an inch and He gives us miles and miles!
